Senior Systems Engineer

Overview The Opportunity The Senior System Engineer is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance Support of the database technology stack at Core42, one of the UAE’s largest high-tech, AI-driven conglomerates. Reporting to the Manager - Technical Operations, this role will ensure maximum uptime of Core42 Platform Database Services and be main actor in Incident, Service Request, and Change Management processes.Core42 is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, combining G42 Group’s expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a single platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations. Building on our capabilities as sovereign cloud and HPC specialist, we bring generative AI, cybersecurity, professional and managed services expertise to enable national-scale program deployments across industries.Responsibilities Your key responsibilites Provide tier-2, in-depth technical O&M support and administration of 24x7x365 always-available production environment. Provide expert knowledge in the Database technology domain. Adhere to defined production support processes. Identify opportunities that can improve the efficiency of operations. Collaborate with the operational and maintenance teams of key vendors. Contribute to the internal knowledge base. Oversee the work of less experienced colleagues, provide ongoing guidance and mentoring QualificationsTo qualify for the role you must have Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field. Minimum 8 years of proven work experience as a Linux Engineer, Technical Support Engineer or similar in a Linux production environment with focus on databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.). Extensive experience with server-level operating systems Unix/Linux and facilitating high-level engineering. Ideally, you’ll also have Understanding of standard and distributed storage systems, such as CEPH, EMC ECS, HDFS and protocols FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, etc. Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions. Deep understanding of TCP/IP stack. Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet or Ansible. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and monitoring tools. Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
