Job Description

OverviewReporting to the Director ESG, the Senior Manager Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Transition will develop and implement G42s GHG inventory and transition plan, progressing G42s commitment to achieve net zero by 2050.The Senior Manager GHG Transition has the responsibility to lead GHG data gathering, analysis and reporting across G42 Operations. The role involves creating an inventory, robust baseline and transparent transition plan to ensure G42 achieves Net Zero by 2050. The involves tracking progress against goals and identifying ares of improvement. In addition, the role will guide and support G42 and operating businesses to reduce GHG emissions across business operations.The Senior Manager, GHG Transition is the liaison between the G42 corporate and operating businesses on GHG emission reduction strategies and will support the ESG committee and taskforce, reporting on the emission reduction progress, challenges, and opportunities.In addition, the role importantly involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to build outcome based partnerships, to reduce the carbon footprint of G42 operations.ResponsibilitiesGHG Transition Stategy:Develop the organization's Net Zero Transition Strategy, aligning to G42s national commitment to achieve NetZero by 2050, embodying the principles of: Transparency Relevance, Accuracy, Consistency, Comparability and Completeness.Develop a robust GHG inventory to inform the G42s group ESG report, in accordance with international best practices and manage the independent verification of the inventory.Develop a process and platform to gather data and report G42s primary greenhouse gases.Establish geographical, organizational, and operational boundaries to ensure an accurate account of GHG emissions.Develop and update existing procedures to integrate GHG reduction strategies into G42s operations, including incorporating climate change risks and opportunities into investment decisions, access to sustainable finance, risk assessments and procurement.Embed ESG criteria, focused on GHG reductions, into the value chain, upstream and downstream, prioritizing partnerships with market leaders.GHG Transition- Implementation :Develop and issue GHG reports, to inform the G42s aggregate ESG report and in accordance with international best practices, transparently reporting performance with stakeholders and regulators.Manage the external verification of the GHG Inventory and Net Zero Transition Strategy to enhance credibility.Apply GHG reduction digital solutions to capture and manage reports and data.Implement technologies across G42 operations to improve efficiencies and reduce GHG emissions.Lead a robust capacity-building programme for G42 staff and its assets, to provide expert emission reduction strategies.Participate in the ESG Committee and ESG Taskforce with representatives from across G42 and its assets.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where GHG reduction initiatives are regularly reviewed and refined.Stakeholder Engagement :Promote collaboration with government entities, private sector innovators, NGOs, and research institutions to drive G42 towards achieving NetZero targets.Maximize emission reduction partnerships.Communicate the organization’s GHG Transition initiatives and progress to stakeholders through various channels, including reports, presentations, and events.Serve as a key member of ESG working groups with diverse internal stakeholders (e.g., Supply Chain, Facilities, Research and Development, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Legal, Investor Relations, Employee Communications, Corporate Communications) to develop and implement GHG Transition programs, communicate progress to stakeholders.Communicate performance to employees, customers, and investors, with a focus on GHG emission reductions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or relevant fieldPreferred Master's Degree in sustainability, environmental management, engineering or relevant field10+ years of progressive career experiencePassionate, innovative, and experienced leader with a demonstrable track record delivering effective GHG Transition strategies and reportsPassionate, innovative, and experienced leader with a demonstrable track record delivering effective GHG Transition strategies and reports.Strong organizational skills; ability to work in partnership; ability to manage consultants with confidence; excellent attention to detailStrong team player; able to work independently to drive results to deadline; and manage pressure situations.Excellent working knowledge of and experience managing consultants and partners, including private and public sector entitiesExperience managing a budget and successfully allocating resources for transition projectsExcellent verbal and written communication and an ability to deliver high quality presentationsIn-depth knowledge of various GHG international standards and reporting requirementsExcellent analytical abilities.
