Job Description

Job PurposeThe job holder is responsible for managing an organization's computing systems and networks, ensuring data security, and designing, installing, maintaining, and retiring core systems, networks, telecommunications, and personnel. This role is critical in modern businesses due to the growing demand for technology-driven solutions.Key Accountabilities Contributes to the formulation of IMI’s Information Technology strategy. Ensures alignment of IT Computing and Communications Department’s efforts in implementing IMI’s Information Technology strategy Develops and monitors IT Infrastructure’s procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with the other IT Department. Monitors performance of the IT Computing and Communications Department against KPIs and objectives regularly. Recommends improvements and efficiencies in line with IMI’s corporate priorities. Develops and monitors the annual budget of the IT Computing and Communications Department in collaboration with the IT planning team. Leads the collaboration with concerned stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and align IT infrastructure. Develop and implement strategic plans for the IMI’s IT infrastructure, encompassing networks, systems, applications and facilities. Oversee IMI’s network architecture. Oversee IMI systems including servers, databases, and other IT systems. Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of IT systems. Oversee the physical infrastructure supporting IT operations, including data centres and server rooms. Manage environmental controls, security measures, and disaster recovery plans for IT facilities. Implement and enforce security measures for networks, systems, and facilities. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Oversee the development and deployment of core infrastructure applications. Oversee radio communication systems and pager services to meet the IMI’s operational needs. Plans and establishes priorities for maintenance, design, development, and analysis of IMI’s infrastructure components including Compute, Storage, LANs, WANs, Internet, wireless systems, telecommunications, radios, and databases. Oversees the planning, designing and execution of infrastructure testing efforts. Monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of existing infrastructure services and identifies improvement opportunities. Monitors the development and maintenance of an up-to-date and comprehensive log on infrastructure incidents and resolutions. Maintains appropriate security levels on infrastructure in alignment with IT security policies, procedures, and processes. Manages the performance monitoring and capacity planning of IMI’s infrastructure components and provides regular performance and capacity status reports. Manages the organization and storage of data, security, and confidentiality of data, and evaluates data systems’ performance for improvement. Advises on future IT investments from business process efficiency, technology efficiency, and risk issues and ensures that they are reflected in practices to maintain safety, information, and data. Provides the locations with the necessary floor space, electricity provision, cooling infrastructure, structural integrity (e.g. to handle heavy floor loading) and access controls to set an optimal base for the physical infrastructure required. Designs, plans, and implements an enterprise-wide disaster recovery plan to ensure uninterrupted business operations and avoids loss of sensitive data. Devises, schedules, and implements disaster recovery tests and leads the analysis of results and identification of areas for improvement. Monitors adherence to SLAs with internal stakeholders and vendors. Provides professional development support and performs periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on IMI’s Performance Management System. Supports the development of workforce plans for the Information Technology Department. Provides employees within the IT Application Department with the required competencies through appropriate and blended learning.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor's degree in computer engineering or equivalent.A master's degree in computer engineering or equivalent is an added advantage.Professional QualificationsTechnical certifications in computing, communications and/or implementation.PMP or similar project management certifications are an added advantageExperienceMinimum of 15 years of relevant experience in managing DC operations, computing, RDBMS, networks, and communications technologies.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role.ExperienceMinimum of 15 years of relevant experience in managing DC operations, computing, RDBMS, networks, and communications technologies.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Administration of Microsoft, Cisco, and Huawei systems Infrastructure (Hardware and Systems) Management Information Security, and Application Protection Large networks design, implementation, and management (at least two implementations). Telecommunications management and administration.
