Job Description
- The Senior System Engineer handles the day-to-day administration, operations and maintenance of the Zewail City critical systems infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership and supports the management of server infrastructure, cloud platforms, storage solutions and other systems.
- Manage and support server infrastructure including virtual and physical servers
- Administer storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) solutions
- Install, configure and harden operating systems such as Windows and Linux
- Configure and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Monitor systems performance using tools and resolve any issues
- Plan for infrastructure scalability, upgrades and system failover procedures
- Develop automation scripts for routine administrative tasks and CMDB
- Ensure data security, integrity, reliability and accessibility
- Mentor less experienced team members and support junior admins
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations
- Coordinate with 3rd party vendors and service providers as needed
Job Requirements
- Expert knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms like VMWare, Hyper-V
- Experience with storage technologies like SAN, NAS, DAS
- Scripting knowledge in Powershell, Python, Bash or related tools
- Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef
- Knowledge of IT service management processes
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
