- ARKS is continuing to grow as we undertake new projects with well-respected architectural firms, developers, and clients. We are seeking an experienced Senior Façade Engineer who has profound knowledge in the façade and building physics industry.
- The right candidate will be expected to carry out façade design engineering tasks, be responsible for all drawing sets, structural analysis, presentation, and detailing in all project phases, and coordinate work with architects, clients, and other consultants.
Role and responsibilities:
- Lead, steer, and mentor Façade team
- Undertake the design, engineering, and documentation.
- Resolve Facades and building’s envelope technical problems and ensure the quality of products and services undertaken by the team
- Propose potential Façade systems, design strategies, interface solutions, and detail input on full building envelope.
- Review, customize and optimize project specifications to fit into project’s needs and intended façade performance criteria
- Carry out Glazing, Curtain wall framing, sub-structure, brackets and anchorage, etc. Structural analyses
- Carry out coordination and data exchange with architects, mechanical, structural, and electrical engineers
- Review façade details, reports, and analyses produced by junior façade engineers and assures the company’s quality standards.
- Review contractors shop drawings and calculations
- Explore the latest products, technologies, and software to help develop the company
Job Requirements
Qualities and skills required:
- 10+ years of experience in the façade engineering field
- A degree in Structural or Architectural engineering field
- MSc or any relevant studies in facade engineering is preferred
- Project management skills
- Experience of design should ideally include the majority of the following:
- Awareness of basic weather performance requirements
- Understanding of basic façade fire performance requirements.
- In-depth construction knowledge and experience including technical inspections and review of information provided by façade contractors
- Practical knowledge of different façade and building envelope systems and materials (cladding types, glazing types)
- Able to design and develop bespoke façade solutions
- High proficiency in ACAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience of 3D design software (Revit, Rhino, CATIA, etc.)
- knowledge of energy analysis software (Therm, Grasshopper & Energy+, Flixo, …etc)
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis Software (Mepla, Strand 7, SAP2000, etc.)
- Knowledge of graphic software is preferred (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
- Profound knowledge of BS and ASTM standards
- Excellent written and spoken English
