Job Description
- Oversee daily operations of the farm; farming and livestock according to environmental standards (agroecological / organic)
- Develop and implement crop management, soil management, and pest control strategies to maximize yield and maintain soil health.
- Follow livestock management plan (feed, nutrition and veterinary plans)
- Lead, train, and supervise farm staff, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgeting, procurement, and inventory of seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and other farm supplies.
- Monitor crop growth, irrigation schedules, and harvest timelines to ensure optimal productivity and quality.
- Coordinate with sales, logistics, and distribution teams to ensure timely delivery of produce to market.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting, fertilization, pest management, and harvest data.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Identify and implement new technologies or methods to improve efficiency and sustainability.
- Represent the farm in community outreach, industry events, and with certification bodies as needed.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental farming or agricultural management.
- Proven track record in managing farm operations including staff supervision and resource allocation.
- Strong knowledge of organic certification requirements and sustainable agriculture practices.
- Experience with crop planning, soil health management, and integrated pest management.
- Excellent organizational, attention to details and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to optimize farm productivity.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate teams.
- Familiarity with budgeting, procurement, and inventory management.
- Ability to work on-site and adapt to changing weather and operational conditions.
