Job Description
- Create, optimize, and manage CNC programs for 5-axis machines (using software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks CAM).
- Import and process 3D models (STEP, DXF, IGES) for toolpath generation.
- Select tools, cutting strategies, and feeds/speeds for efficient machining of wood, veneer, MDF, plywood, and composite materials.
- Run test pieces, troubleshoot toolpaths, and optimize cycle times while maintaining surface quality.
- Prepare and set up 5-axis CNC machines, fixtures, and workholding for complex parts (e.g., sculpted chair legs, curved panels, mortise-and-tenon joints).
- Conduct machine calibration, alignment, and tool offset adjustments.
- Monitor operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish meet tolerance and quality standards.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Furniture Production, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 2 years on 5-axis machines.
- Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM, HyperMILL, or equivalent).
- Experience machining wood and furniture materials (oak, pine, veneer, MDF, plywood, HPL, epoxy, metal inserts).
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of joinery, woodworking processes, and finishing is a plus.
