Job Description
The Reading Coach for Learning Disabilities provides specialized support to students who experience reading and literacy difficulties, including dyslexia and other learning disabilities. This role involves assessment, targeted intervention, teacher coaching, and collaboration with families and school teams to promote reading fluency, comprehension, and a love of literacy.
Job Requirements
- Work with educators to identify issues with students or curriculum, set goals, and solve problems
- Collaborate with educators and school administrators to develop curriculum and lesson plans.
- Create teaching material for educators.
- Lead and/or participate in study groups alongside educators.
- Help teachers conduct student assessments and analyze student work.
- Interpret data after student or teacher assessments have been conducted.
- Implement interventions directly with small groups or individuals either inside or outside of the classroom for up to 25 percent of their time, ideally in the classroom. However, in a minority of cases, some students may require access to specific or specialist support outside the classroom context.
- Support the development, implementation and review of individual education plans (IEP) including the development of instructional and educational strategies and the modification and adaptation of curriculum structures.
