Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for:
- The efficient and timely preparation of accurate, high-quality electrical engineering design technical drawings using the relevant software, for large scale, and complex design projects, as directed by the Electrical Team Lead (Cairo)
- Carrying out all electrical analysis and designs in conformance with all required local and international design codes, design standards and codes of practice as directed by the Electrical Team Lead (Cairo)
- Coordination with of the drafting resources, and other resources required for completion of all drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
- Strong working knowledge of all required electrical engineering codes / standards, design and construction practices, and drawing practices for complex electrical engineering design projects
- Critical outcomes of this role include; the production of accurate, timely and high-quality Revit (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) drawings for complex projects, and coordination of these drawings with all other required design disciplines such as architectural, electrical and electrical engineering and quantity surveying.
- The role requires the building and maintaining professional relationships with internal stakeholders, other consultants, contractors, including coordinating with other Design Engineers, Electrical Team Lead (Cairo), and project managers to assist with submittal of overall project deliverables for concept, schematic, and detailed design stage submissions in line with planned project timelines.
Job Duties
- For specific allocated projects, in coordination with the Electrical Team Lead (Cairo), manage, plan and carry out;
- Complex electrical engineering analysis, design and drawings, specifications and bills of quantities using appropriate analysis and design and drawing software, to the required quality project timeline, and design budget,
- Obtain all data and follow up with project managers, Electrical Team Lead (Cairo), other company staff, other consultants and contractors so that analysis, design and production of drawings, specifications and bills of quantities are completed in an accurate, timely manner, to the required quality,
- Establish and build professional relationships with other staff, other Consultants, contractors.
- Understand the project brief,
- Assist Electrical Team Lead (Cairo), other Engineering Designers with the preparation and implementation of the Project electrical engineering designs in coordination with the assigned project team,
- Participate in and contribute to value engineering exercises,
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and teams within ECEC and with 3rd parties in relation to technical, financial, safety, quality, schedule and other elements of a project, so that accurate electrical designs and electrical engineering drawings, specifications and bills of quantities are produced.
- Specifically, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for:
- Implementing and updating specific and overall project electrical engineering designs, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities for multiple complex design projects and construction projects.
- Assists the Electrical Team Lead (Cairo) on matters that cross between interfacing elements, projects.
- Work proactively, constructively, and fairly with all parties to ensure the successful execution of duties,
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as directed, and as may be appropriate.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering,
- Registration with a recognized Engineering Professional Institution (licensed to practice electrical engineering), and,
- Specific training & qualifications in electrical engineering analysis and design including use of specific software.
Specific Skills Required
- Very good level of competence in use of Revit, AutoCAD and other drafting software - preferred,
- Excellent working knowledge of internationally accepted electrical engineering, design industry principles and practices / safety / quality systems.
- Excellent knowledge of current electrical engineering technology.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem solving, numeracy and English literacy skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Uses diplomacy and tact in discussions with other parties.
- Contributes to team building and enhancing morale across the team / project.
- Promotes equality and recognises diversity in managing people.
- Understands local and international multi-cultural aspects of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- High level of computer literacy.
- Minimum 7 to 12 years (depending on the seniority of the position) of related work experience working for design consultants on large scale complex design projects is essential,
- Previous Middle East experience preparing designs, and,
- Strong experience drafting using Revit and AutoCAD is required.
