Job Description
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
- Perform all welding tasks and related fabrication and finishing processes according to project needs.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of universal standards and specifications to meet building codes and safety regulations.
- Inspect and test welds and equipment for durability and safety, reporting issues and malfunctions as necessary.
- Operate machinery to fabricate, assemble, or repair steel components and structures.
- Collaborate with the teams to ensure optimal integration of fabricated metal components and structural compliance.
- The welders shall be qualified and certified to position (6G) &, class approved certifications for WQR (AWS D1.1) and ASME Code Sec. IX and have experience for rig structural material like API 5L Gr B, ASTM A-36 & AISI 4130 and rig equipment like preload tanks, drill water tanks, piping, and structures.
- The 6G certified welders shall be approved by GL/ABS/ DNV class.
- Carries out a variety of welding and cutting work in offshore rig locations using various welding techniques to cut, braze, and weld structures, pipes, boilers, steel stocks, grinding and finishing completed products, and other rigs requirements. Use various electrodes and heat treatment techniques to carry out and finish work according to specific metal and inspection requirements and monitor processes while staying aware of overheating levels.
Job Requirements
- Should be familiar with work permit system.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.) (SMAW & SAW)
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Completion of secondary education (12 years) followed by two years formal training in welding.
- Proven experience as a Welder with a minimum 5 years in Oil and Gas industry.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, squares, calipers etc.).
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Current and valid certification in welding from a recognized institution.
- Strong technical knowledge of blueprints and welding diagrams.
