Job Description
Supervision of Purchasing Activities:
- Oversee and manage the daily activities of the purchasing team, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Assign tasks and set priorities for purchasing agents, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Monitor purchase orders and contracts to ensure accuracy, adherence to specifications, and timely fulfillment.
Supplier Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly, addressing any issues related to delivery, quality, or service.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure a diversified and reliable supply chain.
Cost Management:
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Work closely with the finance department to track budget compliance and report on purchasing activities.
Inventory Control:
- Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure adequate stock levels and prevent overstock or stockouts.
- Analyze inventory reports to forecast demand and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes and implement best practices.
- Ensure that purchasing procedures are in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Develop and maintain documentation of purchasing processes and procedures.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance to senior management.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to purchasing efficiency, cost savings, and supplier reliability.
Team Development:
- Train and mentor purchasing staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their professional growth.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices and supply chain principles.
