Job Description
Design and Analysis:
- Develop detailed designs using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus to validate designs under real-world conditions.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
Reverse Engineering:
- Disassemble existing machines or equipment to analyze components and systems.
- Document and catalog parts, materials, and processes used in the original design.
- Redesign and improve upon existing systems for better performance and efficiency.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Build and test prototypes to validate design changes.
- Conduct stress tests, performance evaluations, and failure analysis to ensure product reliability.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions.
Project Management:
- Manage the mechanical aspects of projects from concept through production, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve design processes and product offerings.
- Identify opportunities for design and process improvements, implementing changes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Experience:
- 3-7 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably in manufacturing, automotive, or aerospace industries.
- Proven experience with reverse engineering projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of FEA tools like ANSYS or Abaqus.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, casting, and welding.
- Understanding of material science, including metals, polymers, and composites.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
