Job Description
- MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES (MSF) is a non-governmental medical humanitarian aid organization. MSF presently work in more than 60 countries providing assistance to population in distress, victims of natural or man-made disaster and victims of conflicts irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions. To support this work, MSF Egypt Mission is recruiting for its activities in Cairo
- several Medical Doctors for either fixed positions or for becoming part of a pool to be called upon:
- Purpose of the position:
- Provide outpatient medical care to in-scope patients according to adapted knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards to improve the patient’s health conditions.
- Accountability:
- Work in the clinic in a multidisciplinary team approach with other medical and non-medical staff, as well with supervisors and expatriate team. Acknowledge that any disrespectful attitude towards any of the above mentioned staff will not be tolerated and will lead to the termination of the contract.
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat outpatient consultations according to the approved MSF standard list and to be able to medically justify any diversion from the protocols and standard list, making sure all appropriate documents are filled up correctly
- Being on call for medical emergencies when asked with the ability to offer basic PFA to all patients and patients’ safety check and communicates outcome to psychology, social workers for more comprehensive care
- Always guarantee patient-doctor confidentiality and ensure the whole medical team does the same
- Ability to convey the necessary medical information to the patient, patient caregiver and external partners for advocacy on the behalf of the patient respecting the patient’s wishes and consent for confidentiality
Job Requirements
- Education: Medical Doctor diploma /degree and registered in the Egyptian medical syndicate
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years clinical work. Experience in orthopedics/obstetrics and gynecology/pain management is an asset.
- Experience in SGBV is an asset
- Basic competence in in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Languages: Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory
- Spoken Arabic
