Job Description
JOB PURPOSE::
We are looking for a skilled Data Governance Manager to lead the development, implementation, improvement and follow-up of policies for effective data management. Leading the big data/ data engineering team for the effective utilization of big data technologies, efficiently analyzing large amounts of structured and unstructured data, and implementing solutions for both real-time and batch processing to ensure robust data management and analytics capabilities.
- Data Management:
- Lead the development and implementation of a data governance strategy, policies, standards, and best practices in line with NDMO regulatory requirements, and conduct data maturity assessments.
- Establish and facilitate data governance practices, roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with data owners, stewards, analysts, and other stakeholders to identify, document, and resolve data quality issues, risks, and gaps.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators and metrics to measure the effectiveness and maturity of data governance initiatives, compliance, and adherence.
- Promote data literacy, awareness, and education through training, communication, and outreach activities.
2. Big Data:
- Evaluate and utilize big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka to efficiently process and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Implement solutions for real-time and batch processing.
- Lead collaboration of big data team with data scientists and analysts to design and implement data models and schemas that support analytical needs.
- Develop and implement data integration and ETL processes and build data pipelines and workflows to ensure seamless data ingestion, data transformation, and integration from various sources.
- Data Storage Management: Develop and manage databases and data storage solutions, including cloud storage (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage).
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in database and big data technologies and recommend and implement infrastructure enhancements.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database and big data configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Job Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Strong understanding of big data concepts, data modeling, ETL processes, data integration and data visualization. And best practice.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and methodologies, aligned with NDMO guidelines and requirements.
- Experience in resolving data management disputes and handling complaints related to data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with technical and business counterparts.
- Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous.
