Job Description

As a Project Manager for our digitization initiative, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the conversion of old newspapers and magazines into searchable text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. This project involves managing a team of annotators to ensure accurate and efficient data extraction. You will be responsible for coordinating project timelines, overseeing quality control measures, and ensuring seamless communication among team members.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining key milestones, deliverables, and timelines for the digitization process.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in the digitization process and implement proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Respond promptly to unforeseen issues and adjust project plans as necessary.

 

Team Management:

  • Lead and supervise a team of annotators and support staff involved in the digitization process.
  • Provide guidance, training, and resources to ensure the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage project resources efficiently, including personnel, technology, and budget.
  • Optimize workflows to enhance productivity and meet project deadlines.

 

OCR Technology Implementation:

  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of OCR technology for accurate and efficient text extraction.
  • Develop customized workflow as a pipeline for different projects by deploying suitable tools, technologies and quality control components.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to address any issues and enhance OCR capabilities.

 

 Quality Control:

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of digitized content.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high data integrity standards.

 

Communication and Coordination:

  • Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Coordinate with IT, digitization vendors, and annotators to resolve issues and ensure project alignment.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including progress reports, issue logs, and change requests.
  • Ensure all processes and procedures are well-documented for future reference.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, software development management, software engineering, computer science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Data Engineering Certification is a plus.
  • 2-5 year of experience in digitization project management.
  • Proven experience in managing projects related to digitization, OCR technology, or data annotation.
  • Familiarity with OCR tools and technologies.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control.
  • Experience in the digitization of historical documents or media is a plus.
