Job Description
- The Engineering Director organizes, supervises and controls the activities of the Engineering & Design (E&D) Department.
- Responsible towards the Operations Director for the realization of the technical requirements of the various projects and the coordination of the engineering activities.
- Responsible for scheduling the various design and their associated budgets.
- Optimize the E&D Dpt. organization and implement the appropriate tools in terms of management (technical activities follow up, design variations, electronic documentation management system…)
- Define the functions, resources and duties that are requested to carry out the E&D activities
- Oversee and ensure overall progress of the engineering studies and his direct teams in accordance with the engineering processes
- Record the technical difficulties of the design and take the necessary preventive/corrective actions in collaboration with the Project Directors under validation of the Operations Director/Country Director.
- Validate all official communications of the E&D Dpt.
- Ensure that all activities carried out by the subsystem, coordination department and design office are carried out in accordance with the project requirements
- Receive and distribute critical technical information: letters, questions, request and clarifications (within the E&D Dpt. and externally) and ensure the request are solved.
- Regularly works alongside the Project Director to update project tenders/submittals, contracts, time delivery schedules and project financial documentation to ensure the delivery of projects on time and within budget as well as maintaining healthy cash flow levels for Colas Rail-Egypt and for the financing of the project till its successful completion.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Engineering. MBA, master’s or PMP is a plus.
- 15 years of experience in construction, rail sector or relevant field.
- Extensive experience in operations, design, engineering, site works, construction/site management, project evaluation and technical office management.
- Capable of managing cross functional teams and multiple projects.
- Capable of reading drawings and schematics. (AutoCAD, REVIT)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work across cultural and organizational boundaries and deliver under pressure.
- English is a must, French is a plus.
