Job Description
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for construction projects. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure accurate quantity take-offs, cost forecasting, and financial reporting to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring alignment with project scopes and timelines.
- Develop and monitor budgets, providing regular updates and forecasts to project stakeholders.
- Conduct value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Quantity Take-Off and Measurement:
- Perform precise quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to ensure accurate cost calculations.
- Validate quantities in contractor submissions and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Cost Monitoring and Control:
- Track and manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle, highlighting variances and potential overruns.
- Conduct regular cost reviews and reconcile actual expenditures against budgeted amounts.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly statements, progress payments, and financial reports.
- Progress and Performance Evaluation:
- Collaborate with project teams to evaluate the progress of work and ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Provide input on the financial impact of design changes, site conditions, and other project variables.
- Participate in progress meetings to provide insights on financial performance and cost-related challenges.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of quantities, costs, and financial transactions for reference and audit purposes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on project financial status, including cash flow projections and cost trends.
- Regularly update logs and trackers to monitor project budgets, cost variations, and expenditures.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Liaise with contractors and consultants to verify costs, measurements, and project deliverables.
- Support team members by sharing expertise and providing mentorship as needed.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 6 to 10 years of demonstrable experience in quantity surveying, with a strong focus on cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management.
- Advanced proficiency in QS skills, including measurement techniques and cost analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, for financial modeling and reporting.
- Familiarity with construction practices and standards in Egypt and the Middle East.
- Strong verbal communication skills in English and Egyptian Arabic.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Previous experience with industrial projects or as part of multidisciplinary teams is advantageous.
