Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
- The estimation engineer will estimate the costs associated with upcoming projects and the impact a project will have on the organization to determine if the project will be financially successful.
- This is a skilled position requiring full-time hours in a combination of office and project site environments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the Estimation Engineer are to:
- Analyze research data; before a project starts, the estimation engineer will analyze all preliminary research data to determine the project’s influence on the company and its investments. He/she will compile this information and present it to stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format.
- Review project deliverables; as to start gaining an understanding of the overall scope of the project. This involves reviewing RFQs, design packages, project drawings, and other deliverables to prepare for the estimation process.
- Develop cost estimates and technical/financial quotations; use the preliminary research data and review of project deliverables to prepare the cost estimates for the entire project.
- Manage current and previous estimations; after estimations have been created, estimation engineer will edit and update the estimations as the project changes. He/she will track and maintain all estimations for further analysis. He/she will evaluate changes and review estimations to ensure accurate project development.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc of Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
- 3-5 years of MEP, and HVAC estimation experience
- Proficient knowledge and use of CAD, MS Project, and MS Office
- Proficient ability to extract BOQ from P&ID and layouts
- Full awareness of recent market prices
- Excellent selling/negotiating skills
- Technical documentation skills
- Collaboration, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
