Job Description
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production manager, sales, and manufacturing engineers, to gather requirements and understand customer needs for metal lab furniture.
- Design and develop new lab furniture products and enhancements, considering factors such as ergonomics, functionality, safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and specifications for metal lab furniture designs.
- Perform structural analysis and simulations using finite element analysis (FEA) tools to ensure designs meet required load-bearing capacity and safety standards.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify and evaluate new materials, components, and manufacturing processes for improved performance, cost reduction, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure design feasibility, optimize manufacturing processes, and provide design-for-manufacturing (DFM) input.
- Create prototypes of lab furniture designs, coordinate testing and validation activities, and analyze test results to refine and improve designs.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulations related to lab furniture design, safety, and sustainability.
- Participate in design reviews, provide technical expertise, and collaborate with stakeholders to address design challenges and optimize product performance.
- Document design specifications, analysis results, and project progress reports.
Job Requirements
- Experience from 2- 5 years
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and metal sheets works
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software for structural analysis and simulations.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to lab furniture design, safety, and ergonomics (e.g., SEFA, ANSI/BIFMA).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply analytical thinking to resolve complex design challenges.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies is a plus.
- Prior experience in lab furniture design, new product development, or a related industry is preferred.
