Job Description

  • Chemonics International is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates, for Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) on a USAID-funded program in Egypt. Egyptian nationals are preferred.
  • This anticipated five-year project is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of Egypt's commercial courts system in order to promote investment and economic growth in Egypt. The activity will support the introduction of automated features, such as electronic case filing and processing, e-litigation, and related development and installation of software and networking to the Economic Courts of Egypt. This is a long-term position and the program will be based in Cairo with travel within Egypt. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
  • The DCOP will work closely with the COP to manage the day-to-day operations of the project. The DCOP fills in for the COP in the COP’s absence and assists the COP in day-to-day operations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Masters or an advanced degree with a focus on court automation, law, rule of law or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in developing and implementing and managing similar activities in a developing country.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management as well as grant management experience with a strong background in legal education, court automation, and grants management.
  • Previous work experience in Egypt required.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with judicial stakeholders, government counterparts and civil society organizations.
  • Experience in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of similar-sized donor-supported programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated diplomacy and the ability to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Computer skills including strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic are required.
