Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • The primary job of a Head of Engineering is to ensure that his company’s standards are upheld and clearly defined throughout the entire process of each project’s development and execution.
  • He/She is responsible for overseeing the work of the design office and external consultants, and thus must take ownership of the resulting quality of each project.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Head of Engineering must prioritize tasks, set deadlines and assign staff to various deliverable so that each project phase can hit the ground running with minimal wasted time and resources.
  • Coordinate and oversee the design phase in coordination with the concerned consultants.
  • Analysis of financial data as it pertains to each project in their control. This includes the proper distribution and allocation of resources, the implementation of budgets and the quantification of monetary risk and impact. In addition to those duties, Head of Engineering will frequently need to provide budget outlines and financial reports to executives within the organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all processes related to a project’s completion are carried out in the most efficient and effective manner while simultaneously upholding a given set of standards.
  • Improve new and pre-existing processes, continually reevaluate whether each project is meeting the applicable standards and engage in problem solving with other Managers and personnel.
  • Development and execution need to be thoroughly documented, through reviewing and aiding in the writing of documents relating to a project’s scope, budget resources and justification.
  • Assessment of potential developments and production of detailed technical reports, including site visits with the appropriate members of the management team to ensure the best cost engineered solution is produced for the land (or vice versa).
  • Effective daily management of the ‘Design Team’ (Internal and External) to ensure the provision of required level of services in a pro-active and professional manner to enable other departments to fulfil their role.
  • Develop good working relationships with Local Authorities and ensure knowledge of the peculiarities of the Local Authorities, and knowledge of the many techniques applicable to the real estate Industry to ensure easy approvals.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators for the Engineering Department and take corrective action, as required, to improve equipment inventory, quality audit, productivity, and other objectives

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Fluent English
  • Presentable
  • Giza resident
  • Architecture engineer is preferable

Job Requirements

  • BSc of Engineering and PMP certificate is a must;
  • Ability to focus on details and technicalities while simultaneously retaining a comprehensive vision of the big picture;
  • Proven record in the field of engineering management with solid experience in multi-disciplinary technical coordination
  • Strong interpersonal skill and can juggle several different projects and responsibilities with ease and composure;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Financial acumen;
  • Adept at project and change management;
  • High level of organization awareness;
  • Great leadership skills;
  • Ability to perform under pressure;
  • Recent versions of the Microsoft Office software suite;
  • Digital document management systems (DMS)
  • Telecommunications systems.
