Job Description
- This role will be responsible for the day to day support of Oracle and MS SQL Database servers within the client environment, performing troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
- Work with 3rd party vendors, subcontractors and support teams to effectively support the environment and achieve SLAs.
- Maintain service availability in excess of 99.5%
- Create and maintain relevant server support documentation.
- Provide input into change control, project planning and BC/DR activities.
- Perform general DBA support duties and schedule maintenance tasks as required.
- Adhere to change control – create and implement changes as required to maintain the environment and ensure stability of the DB and relevant services.
- Assist with projects as required. Some project may require after hour work.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support (Identify, troubleshoot and resolve incidents) all MSSQL and Oracle DB issues:
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve the cause of Locks
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve access issues
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve performance issues
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve service failures o Identify, troubleshoot and resolve configuration issues
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve clustering and high availability issues
- Support (Identify, troubleshoot and resolve incidents) related to Application compatibility and monitoring integration (WBEM / SNMP).
- Provide support and work with 3rd party vendors, subcontractors and support teams in order to achieve SLAs.
- Create and Maintain relevant documentation
- Coordinate activities of subcontractors and 3rd party vendors as required.
- Ensure all projects and activities are executed to a high standard and within required timelines
- Assist with performing reasonable requests from management as required to effectively support the assigned client.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Oracle Certified Expert (12c)
- MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014
- ODACM - 12C bonus
- Additional DB Certifications a bonus
- ITIL Foundation Certificate v3 a bonus
- Deep understanding of Oracle Performance debugging features/tools
- Expertise in SQL tuning using tracing, execution plans, wait events, advisors etc.
- Deep understanding of SQL Execution plan is a requirement
- Oracle RAC, Oracle Extended RAC, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Active Data guard, Oracle Golden Gate based Active/Active Replication is a must
- Detailed DB performance analysis using various tools OEM, AWR, ASH, OS monitoring tools
- Understanding of Physical and logical Schema designs to drive scalability and performance requirements
- Experience in system components including CPU, RAM, IO and SAN
- Solid understanding of various architectures for supporting Active-Active, HA, DR Solutions
- OS Tuning using Kernel parameters
- Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Participate in the implementation of technologies and platforms supporting a complex corporate highly virtualized hybrid infrastructure, and the maintenance, monitoring and support of the environment
- DB Capacity Analysis, Reporting and Planning
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of customer organization (technical resources, management)
- Thorough knowledge of Scripting and automation tools
- Proven ability to maintain Server availability to excess of 99.5%
- Thorough knowledge of security principles applicable to DB Server
- Thorough knowledge of network protocols and network services.
