Job Description
POSITION:
- The Subcontract Engineer belongs to the Construction division. He/she is assigned to a project by the Head of Department and reports to him/her. His/her workplace is at the headquarters.
- In the project, he/she belongs to the in-house construction team headed by the Head of Department.
- The Construction Subcontract Manager acts as an expert and coordinator for subcontract management matters.
- If assigned to a project, he/she is supervised by the Commercial Project Manager with respect to this project and reports to the Commercial Project Manager and the Construction Project Manager receiving instructions from both.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform subcontract management work,
- Contribute to subcontract drafting,
- Contribute to subcontract negotiations and award,
- Prepare subcontract management on site,
- Consolidate discipline lessons learnt and implement them,
- Coordinate and expedite in-house activities regarding subcontract management,
- Manage in-house interfaces with respect to subcontract management,
- Act as Site Subcontract Manager, if assigned to a certain project,
- Provide guidance to Site Subcontract Managers,
- Implement and improve discipline tools, guidelines, instructions and procedures.
DUTIES:
- Assess contract with client,
- Give input regarding time schedule and prepare it,
- Select and set up IT tools for subcontract management,
- Establish discipline Q-Plan,
- Contribute to negotiations with potential subcontractors,
- Collect and evaluate subcontractors’ comments on BOQ-items for revision of BOQ prior to
- Contract award,
- Collect and evaluate subcontractors’ comments on subcontract annexes for revision prior to contract award,
- Adapt CM-related commercial annexes to the results of subcontract negotiations,
- Support the Site Subcontract Manager with respect to initial subcontract management activities such as:
- Subcontract seminar
- Subcontract administration templates
- Site kick-off meeting with TKIS site personnel and subcontractors’ staff
- Site quantity survey,
- Support the Site Subcontract Manager in his daily work, i. e.:
- Commercial execution of civil work and erection subcontracts,
- Extra work orders and commercial correspondence with subcontractors, (pro forma) invoices, quantity survey
- Contract clarification with subcontractors in case of inconsistencies, Subcontract amendments,
- Discipline report for line management,
- Perform all duties of a Site Subcontract Manager, if assigned to a certain project.
