Job Description
- Reviewing, interpreting and sign-out of Molecular Genetics reports in a high-volume testing environment.
- In conjunction with additional Molecular Genetic technical staff, he/she must be able to educate on appropriate interpretation and test usage, while actively refining and developing laboratory tests and procedures.
- Performing assay development and planning of validations.
- Composing validation summaries with relevant and appropriate descriptions of performance characteristics.
- Conducting and review proficiency testing.
- Conducting internal inspections.
- Interacting with referral laboratories.
- Implementing quality assurance measures.
- Troubleshooting and investigating laboratory testing issues and be actively involved in the solutions to maintain a high quality Molecular Genetic laboratory.
- Assisting in assay trouble-shooting and implementation of new assays
- Monitoring compliance in-regards to a safe working environment.
- Assisting in the training of technologist and technical consultation with operations staff.
- Observing compliance with regulatory agencies, including inspections.
- Monitoring of quality assurance and improvement at all levels of practice. Assisting managers in quality improvement projects.
- Assuming Clinical Consultant or Technical Supervisor responsibilities
