About the Job

The primary purpose of the Site Engineer role is to perform a technical, organizational and supervisory role on construction projects, setting out and determining the location for above and underground infrastructural installations involved on construction operations. Under the direction of the Projects Manager, the functions of this role shall be done to maintain site security, health and safety and the organization and supervision of materials and human resources. Responsibilities of the incumbent will include applying designs and plans to mark out the site and involvement in projects ranging from small scale to multi-million pound ventures. This may include civil, road, rail and other infrastructure projects. The incumbent will be responsible for liaising and working with construction managers, engineers, planners, subcontractors, supervisors, surveyors, the Operations Department staff and/or corporate staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as the main technical advisor on construction site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives.
  • Set out, level and survey the site to obtain information relevant to CS systems and applications.
  • Check and study plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy calculations and ensure applicability to CS Systems and applications.
  • Ensure that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications set by CS and Clients.
  • Oversee the selection and the requisition of materials. Coordinate with logistics team to ensure availability of materials, tools and equipment.
  • Recommend materials, tools and equipment and make cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.
  • Manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client or consultant.
  • Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
  • Liaise with the local authorities and client if needed to ensure compliance with local or company construction regulations by-laws or client policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with clients and their representatives, including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.
  • Forecast and flexibly handles possible changes in project details or circumstances.
  • Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of any subcontractors.
  • Plan the work efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Train and coach team of operators and technicians on company systems and applications.
  • Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site.
  • Develop and create new business opportunities with clients in the same scope or in new scopes of work within CS specialties.
  • Build deep and strategic relationships with on-site project managers and consultants.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Sciences in Civil, Construction-related, Mechanical, Material Engineering discipline from an accredited University.
  • PMP Preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in the field of civil, construction, structural, building, Mechanical or Material engineering.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills and excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.
  • Fast learner with an excellent ability to coach, train and educate team members on various company applications and systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • Project Management Skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant building and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, some overnight travel to cover sales territory.
  • Dedication, Motivation, Integrity and excellent team spirit.
