Job Description
- Objective of the Assignment
- CEDARE is seeking a Community Development Expert to provide technical guidance and hands-on support for community engagement, mobilization, and participation. The expert will ensure that development activities are participatory, inclusive, and sustainable—enhancing resilience, equity, and ownership within target communities.
- Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Mobilization
- Facilitate participatory needs assessments and stakeholder mapping.
- Mobilize and strengthen CBOs, cooperatives, and local committees.
- Establish dialogue platforms between communities and local authorities.
- Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups.
- Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training programs in governance, livelihoods, and resource management.
- Strengthen leadership and governance capacities of community representatives.
- Support skills development and knowledge transfer for community self-reliance.
- Programme/Project Design & Implementation
- Provide technical input into community-driven interventions.
- Ensure integration of social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
- Support participatory monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Partnerships & Coordination
- Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, private sector actors, and development partners.
- Strengthen linkages between communities and service providers.
- Knowledge Management & Reporting
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
- Contribute to progress reports, policy briefs, and case studies.
- Feed into CEDARE’s regional knowledge-sharing and reporting platforms.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Rural Development, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of proven experience in community mobilization, participatory development, or related areas.
- Strong knowledge of participatory approaches, social inclusion, and gender mainstreaming.
- Experience in capacity building, training facilitation, and organizational development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- Prior experience working with international organizations, government institutions, and community-based organizations.
- Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required.
