Job Description
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and industry benchmarks to develop accurate cost projections.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather relevant information and input for cost estimates.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, including breakdowns of costs by category and phase of construction, to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Participate in bid reviews and negotiations to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or changes in scope.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and support staff as needed.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost estimating for construction projects, with a focus on commercial, residential, or industrial sectors.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interact with clients and stakeholders.
- Proven track record of delivering accurate and timely cost estimates within budgetary constraints.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Cost Professional) is a plus.
