Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for the daily sales activity of the import trade in close partnership with the sales manager in order exceed the volume/yields target and maintain a good relationship with MSC customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the sales manager in developing new/existing business including pricing enquiries, securing new bookings with a target driven approach and authorized rate reduction if needed.
  • Assists the sales manager in providing a full detailed rate request to the trade Managers after negotiating it with the customers.
  • Approaches and builds strong customers’ relations through conducting emails and phone calls.
  • Assists the sales manager in analyzing market opportunities and identifies potential customers.
  • Obtains deep understanding and fresh knowledge of different commodities, as well as acquire the most up to date and relevant business insights along with an extensive understanding from customers themselves to the whole industry.
  • Helps the sales manager in developing local differentiators and formulates a business plan to support target delivery.
  • Ensures that sales systems and reporting are up to date for management tracking, analysis, and planning.
  • Assists the sales manager in communication and liaison across the commercial teams to ensure full support for the customer.
  • Assists the sales manager in ensuring that the freight and landside charges are accurately captured and filled within the TARIFF management system to avoid any discrepancy. 
  • Performs full detailed follow up tasks in coordination with other departments and handles the necessary communication whenever needed.
  • Performs all the sales manager responsibilities when he is not available.
  • Provides complete and accurate reports to management as needed.

Job Requirements

Skills:

  • Excellent English skills – written and spoken.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Persuasion, influential and negotiation skills, problem solving, excellent project management.
  • High level of commitment with the ability to work under pressure.

Experience: 

  • 2-3 years of experience, preferably within shipping, focusing on trade or sales.
