Job Description
- Responsibility for the operation within the pharmacy in conformance with all statutes and regulations pertinent to the pharmacy practice.
- Maintain records for patients’ prescription dispensing trends and follow up with clients for prescription re-ordering /refill.
- Maintain custody and control records of narcotics and controlled drugs.
- Assure that all prescription drugs and controlled substances are safe and secure in the pharmacy.
- Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their compatibility with different medications and other patients' conditions.
- Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
- Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by Physicians; calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
- Analyze patient prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
- Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, promote or evaluate the quality or effectiveness of drugs or drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications or characteristics.
- Review and verify the accuracy of records of contracts, prescriptions, dispensing, and hold responsibility for all dispensing.
- Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies.
- Provide specialized services to help patients manage acute/chronic conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure.
- Offer health promotion, prevention activities, for example, training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
- Ensure the daily archiving, profiling, and updating of patients’ data and profiles.
- Refer patients to other health professionals or agencies when appropriate.
- Ensure that customer complaints are dealt with promptly and efficiently in accordance with company policy.
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or changes due to customers.
- Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers.
- Sell or arrange for the delivery of Medicine / other products in the store.
- Sell or arrange for any product in the store (medicine/cosmetics).
- Fill quantity and cost of merchandise required, based on the client’s / patient's needs.
- Prepare merchandise for purchase.
- Answering customers/patient calls, to ascertain customers’ needs and arrange with the delivery guy to reach in time.
- Follow up with the supervisor or department head about special orders to provide customers with an update.
- The employee is required to work with new delivery and sales methods as coordinated and implemented by the Development Department, in alignment with business needs and market updates.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as a pharmacist
- Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands, etc.
- Good organizing skills
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Integrity and compassion
- Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmacology
- Valid licence to practice the profession
