Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective internal controls. This role supports management by providing timely financial insights, supervising junior accountants, and coordinating audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Conduct variance analysis between budget, forecast, and actual results.
- Provide management with financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
- Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor expenditures and revenue against budgets.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities.
- Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Develop and implement internal control procedures.
- Identify areas for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Support system enhancements in accounting/ERP software.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior accountants.
- Review team work for accuracy and timeliness.
- Foster a culture of accountability and professional development.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar ERP).
- Advanced MS Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Work Conditions
- Full-time position with standard working hours (with occasional overtime during reporting periods).
- Reports directly to the Finance Manager / Financial Controller.
- May require collaboration with cross-functional teams and external auditors.
