Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that solar inverters, transformers, and related electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned according to manufacturer specifications, international standards, and the specific requirements set by SUNGROW. This includes involvement from initial inspection at delivery, through pre-commissioning, commissioning, to post-commissioning support, training, and ongoing maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- - Conduct site visits upon delivery of inverter systems to perform visual inspections and prepare joint inspection reports.
- - Identify and report any damage or water exposure to inverters and associated components.
- - Perform pre-commissioning inspections on transformers including checking of oil and winding temperature sensors, gas sensors, and pressure relief valves.
- - Verify proper termination and grounding of equipment, and ensure no leaks are present in transformers.
- - Perform RMU functionality tests, relay testing, and Digital Gas Analysis (DGA) testing where required.
- - Support the site during live commissioning, ensuring safe startup and proper interlock checks between RMU and transformer systems.
- - Assist in resolving on-site technical issues during the commissioning phase in coordination with Sungrow and client teams.
- - Provide on-site Operation & Maintenance (O&M) training to client personnel, in line with Sungrow standards.
- - Undertake both minor and major planned maintenance tasks such as inverter cleaning, voltage and grounding checks, and component replacement.
- - Respond to unplanned maintenance incidents within defined SLA timelines (e.g., within 4 working hours), providing both remote and on-site troubleshooting as needed.
- - Maintain clear documentation of all testing, commissioning, maintenance, and client communication activities.
- - Coordinate with Sungrow and internal teams to ensure all project milestones and reporting deliverables are met.
- Prepare reports for the CEO using business metrics and KPIs
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
- - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical field.
- - Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems, preferably including solar energy systems.
- - Proficiency in interpreting technical diagrams, electrical schematics, and system layouts.
- - Experience with commissioning of transformers, RMU systems, inverters, and protective relays.
- - Strong understanding of safety protocols and electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC).
- - Ability to perform diagnostic analysis using test equipment and software tools.
- - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
- - Availability for travel to project sites across Egypt and potentially other countries.
- - High level of organization, documentation accuracy, and proactive problem-solving skills.
Work Location:
Project sites across Egypt with possible travel to international locations based on project requirements.

Reporting Line:
Reports directly to the Project Manager and coordinates with the client technical team and Sungrow representatives.
