- Job Summary:
- The Accounts Receivable Senior Accountant manages the company’s accounts receivable functions, ensuring that customer billing, collections, and reconciliations are completed accurately and promptly. This role is pivotal in managing credit sales, controlling overdue receivables, and minimizing doubtful debts. The position will work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure the accuracy of accounts receivable records and to support cash flow management.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Billing & Revenue Recognition:
- Oversee the preparation and issuance of customer invoices based on contract terms, purchase orders, or delivery receipts.
- Ensure that invoices are accurate and reflect the correct goods/services delivered, pricing, and applicable taxes
- Accounts Receivable Reconciliation:
- Regularly reconcile accounts receivable aging reports with the general ledger and customer records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between customer accounts and internal records
- Collections & Credit Control:
- Monitor the collection of accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment by customers in accordance with agreed-upon credit terms.
- Contact customers regarding overdue payments and manage the collection process to ensure payments are made in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the Collection Officer(s) to implement effective collection strategies and maintain good relationships with customers
- Doubtful Debts Management:
- Review overdue accounts and assess the likelihood of collection.
- Manage and analyze provisions for doubtful debts and prepare relevant journal entries.
- Work with the finance team to develop strategies for writing off bad debts and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Credit Sales Control:
- Oversee the company’s credit policy and ensure proper documentation and approval of credit sales.
- Regularly review the creditworthiness of customers and recommend changes in credit limits as necessary.
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor AR Accountant(s) and Collection Officer(s), ensuring that all team members adhere to deadlines and performance standards.
- Provide guidance and training to the accounts receivable team to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls related to accounts receivable and credit management. • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Continuously review processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate financial risks.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or a related accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably Odoo or similar platforms).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with customers and internal teams.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
