Job Description

About the Role
We’re looking for a Level and Narrative Designer to join our story-driven game development team. At IDMSoft, Level and Narrative designers are not only responsible for writing great dialogue — they shape entire arcs, design player-driven experiences, and work closely with level designers, mission designers, and artists to bring our worlds to life.

You’ll be working inside our in-house Falcon Framework, which connects story, tasks, and cinematics together. Each narrative designer owns character arcs, missions, and branching storylines, making sure every choice has impact while staying true to the world and lore.

Responsibilities
Write, structure, and implement character arcs, dialogue, and branching storylines.

  • Collaborate with level designers and mission designers to ensure story and gameplay are tightly connected.
  • Manage quest/task logic using our Falcon Tree system (linear, event-based, and location-based tasks).
  • Design and integrate conversations, cinematics, and story variables into the game engine.
  • Maintain consistency of lore, themes, and emotional tone across arcs.
  • Contribute to world-building, including factions, events, and cultural details.
  • Work with senior narrative designers to polish dialogue and ensure quality across all deliverables.
  • Playtest and review content to check pacing, clarity, and player agency.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Strong writing skills, with a focus on interactive and non-linear storytelling.
  • Understanding of branching narrative design and how player choice impacts gameplay.
  • Experience writing for games, screenwriting, or similar storytelling mediums.
  • Ability to collaborate across art, design, and programming teams.
  • Comfortable with feedback, iteration, and polishing content.
  • Passion for AAA-style action RPGs and narrative-driven games.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of cinematic design (cutscenes, pacing, emotional beats).
  • Experience working with variables, conversation editors, or quest scripting systems.
  • Background in creative writing, screenwriting, or game design education.
