IT Disaster Recovery Specialist

Job DescriptionIT Disaster Recovery Specialist under the ITSM framework in D360, will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing disaster recovery protocols to guarantee minimal service interruption and rapid recovery of IT services in the event of a disaster. His/her focus is on safeguarding the bank's IT assets, including data, applications, and infrastructure, and always ensuring business continuity.Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the IT Disaster Recovery Plan in alignment with the bank's ITSM policies, reflecting industry best practices. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure DR practices are integrated into all aspects of IT operations. Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to identify critical systems and processes, defining Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to design and implement failover mechanisms for key IT systems and data storage. Plan and execute regular DR drills, testing the effectiveness and efficiency of the DR plan and making adjustments as needed based on test results. Lead recovery efforts during actual disaster events, serving as a central point of contact and coordination. Train IT staff and relevant stakeholders on DR procedures and crisis management protocols. Develop and maintain documentation related to DR procedures, test results, and recovery steps. Provide reporting on DR readiness, risks, and test outcomes to IT management and other business stakeholders. Stay abreast of new DR technologies and methodologies that might enhance resilience and effectiveness. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards relating to DR and data protection. Work closely with IT Security to ensure that DR plans address cybersecurity threats appropriately. Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and related information security (EIS) policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, personal due diligence, and vigilance, within departmental/unit activities and operations QualificationsPreferred Qualifications A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.Professional certification in ITSM frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity (DRII, BCI). Years & Nature of Experience Would have 5 to 7 years of equivalent experience where required competencies and experience have been demonstrated Team leads who have managed and delivered projects Demonstrated expertise and experience with complex technical activities Has worked with more senior staff and dealt with complex issues, larger clients, accounts, projects, or internal relationships. Previous experience in IT disaster recovery planning and implementation, preferably in a banking or financial services environment. Thorough understanding of IT infrastructure, including data centers, servers, networks, and cloud services.
