Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Logistics officer
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Supply Chain LOCATION: Cairo Office
GRADE: 3 TYPE OF CONTRACT: National Staff –Fixed term 12 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)


Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.



ROLE PURPOSE:


The position holder will be responsible to Coordinate all supply chain activities for the humanitarian responses being executed in Egypt. Including overland transport to the borders strip, warehouse and preparedness stock, handling and coordination of supply chain issues, including procurement, warehousing activities in consistency with Save the Children policies and procedures, in the HQ (Cairo) for the humanitarian response.



SCOPE OF ROLE:


Reports to: Head of Supply Chain.


Staff directly reporting to this post: 2 officers


Travel: possible travel to governorates around 10-15 %.



KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND DELIVERABLES


· Oversee the management of a fleet of vehicles used for passenger transportation, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.


· Develop and implement vehicle maintenance schedules to keep the fleet in optimal condition and minimize downtime.


· Coordinate with drivers and scheduling teams to ensure adequate coverage and efficient utilization of vehicles.


· Manage warehousing operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of goods.


· Implement inventory control measures to optimize space utilization and minimize inventory shrinkage.


· Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely replenishment of inventory and efficient order fulfillment.


· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the end-to-end supply chain, from procurement to distribution.


· Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings across the logistics network.


· Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures for both transportation and warehousing operations


· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to passenger transportation, warehousing, and occupational health and safety.


· Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks.


· Develop and manage budgets for transportation, warehousing, and fleet operations, including expenses such as fuel, maintenance, and personnel.


· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation and warehousing strategies with broader business objectives.


· Address stakeholder concerns and escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution


· Provide leadership and guidance to a team of transportation, warehousing, and fleet personnel.


· Identify emerging trends and opportunities in the transportation and warehousing industry and develop proactive strategies to capitalize on them.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


· Bachelor’s degree in relevant business field is required


· 4 to 7 years of work experience in the field of logistics procurement and supply chain is required.


· Adequate skills on business management and/or ERP systems such as SAP, ARIBA etc.


· High computer skills on MS office programs especially MS Excel


· Experience with Child Rights and Child Rights Programming is desirable


· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.


· Highly developed facilitation and capacity building skills.


· Good communication and writing skills in English language is required.


· Commitment to Save the Children’s values.


· Emergency response experience is an asset
