Job Description

Job Purpose:Manage and supervise the design and development of programmes and content for Culture Festivals & Platforms, aiming to enhance cultural heritage elements and to deliver distinctive experiences. The Programmes Development Section Head role will direct the section to develop programmes and content in line with established calendar, timelines and expectations. Plus, the role will ensure effective engagement with relevant segments, partners and communities of practices to leverage their experiences and knowledge about Abu Dhabi heritage, culture and art. Also, the Section Head role will be responsible for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of developed programmes and content in meeting desired outcomes of cultural festivals and platforms. Key Accountabilities: Programmes Design & Development Manage and direct the overall designing and development of all programmes for cultural festivals and platforms, aiming to enhance cultural heritage elements and deliver distinctive experiences. Oversee the development and implementation of full concepts for all festivals and platforms, in line with Culture Festivals & Platforms established calendar and timelines. Foster relationships and engagement with key segments, communities of practices, and partners from heritage, culture and art fields, demonstrating experiences and knowledge about Abu Dhabi heritage, culture and art. Direct the development, analysis and review of visitor surveys in order to set improvement plans and to capture visitor’s preferences and enhance visitor’s experience. Manage the development of sustainable models to preserve and promote heritage and cultural elements, preparing for future festivals and platforms.  Manage and oversee the conversion of cultural festivals into platforms in order to enhance the recognition and participation of local artists and performers. Ensure continuous participation in local and international conferences, events and festivals, aiming to widen international participations and extend reach to new audiences. Monitor the development and expansion of the established database for heritage experts, including historians, key individuals in the communities of practice, curators, master practitioners, experts and bespoke influencers that are accessible for engagement in festivals. Provide guidance and direction to identify targeted audiences and capture their preferences, contributing to develop and enhance future festivals and platforms.Content Development & Enhancement Direct the team to continuously research and implement best practices related to programmes design and content development. Supervise and provide expertise to effectively create recordings and archives of heritage experts and communities of practices (e.g. oral history collection, storytelling and traditional knowledge) utilizing a variety of recording and documentation methods. Supervise the development of full programme calendars, and approve all contents developed for each platform, ensuring that all content and programmes are developed in line with expected standards and objectives. Direct the team to continuously track and record engagement and outreach to all segments and communities of practice (artisans, practitioners, groups, visual artists and designers, performers,  small businesses, heritage experts and partners) Represent Culture Festivals & Platforms as appropriate in external events and outside the DCT. Monitor the effectiveness of developed contents and designs in meeting overall desired outcomes of cultural festivals and programmes. Policies, Processes and ProceduresDevelop policies, processes and procedures pertaining to the section in coordination with the corporate excellence section, and manage their implementation to ensure adherence and all relevant requirements are fulfilled. CollaborationCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to the section to in order to facilitate flow of information and to build awareness in those areas. Day-to-Day Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of the section providing some guidance in the related area, encouraging teamwork and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards and ensure that employees’ activities are performed in timely, efficient, and effective manner. Report on a regular basis to the line manager on the operational activities of the section, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required to keep the line manger informed and updated on the section’s activities. People Management Manage the effective achievement of the section’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, enhancing capability building, conducting and reviewing performance appraisals for direct and indirect reports, assisting in recruitment, providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximise subordinates and section’s performance.Contribute to the achievement of Emiratisation requirements within the section through recruitment, development and retention of UAE nationals and in line with DCT’s Emiratisation initiatives. EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Ensure all relevant environment, health and safety policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.Comply with all relevant EHS guidelines, policies and procedures, report incidents and hazards on a timely manner, and reduce consumption of natural resources to support in protecting the environment and ensure a healthy and safe work environment. Qualification and Experience: Bachelor or Master Degree in Culture, History, Emirati Studies, Cultural Heritage, Social Sciences or Equivalent. At least 8 to 10 years of experience in cultural programmes development, event and festivals content development, artistic direction, curation and/or an equivalent experience within similar roles. Additionally, having an experience in cultural/heritage field would be an advantage. Plus, mastery of Arabic language (classical and local dialect) is highly recommended
