Job Description
Software QA Engineer
AS Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and execution of software tests that verify the software meets business or product requirements. In addition, s/he has over 5 years of proven software QA experience in the analysis, design, scheduling, construction, and execution of QA testing of enterprise or product software-based solutions. S/he is responsible for quality in product development or client engagements, along with improving enterprise or product quality assurance practices and supporting business development activities.
Main roles and responsibilities:
As a role that focuses on assuring the product quality, expect the following duties and
responsibilities:
- Creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Managing and mentoring QA engineers to achieve the highest possible product quality
- Define the goals and objectives of the QA team and define metrics to monitor their progress
- Administer the design and execution of test plans
- Lead the implementation of automated testing in a CI/CD environment
- Work in a continually changing and improving startup environment, contributing strongly to continuous improvement
- Creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions
- Reviewing system requirements and tracking quality assurance metrics
- Conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets system requirements
- Designing, developing, and executing automation scripts
- Identifying, recording, documenting thoroughly, and tracking bugs
- Performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
- Developing and applying testing processes for new and existing products to meet system requirements
- Monitoring debugging process results
- Estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating quality testing activities
- Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
Job Requirements
Qualifications and requirements:
A great Software QA Engineer usually has 5 or more years of experience with software testing and QA, and one or several formal qualifications.
A Software QA Engineer should have bachelor's degree in any of the following fields:
- Engineering
- IT or Computer Science
Additionally, Software QA Engineer should possess high levels of the below skills to perform well in the role:
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
- Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
- Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
- Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
