Overview:
A translator shall be responsible for:
- Reading and understanding contexts,
- Searching the industry-related terminologies,
- Using the specialized dictionaries and CAT tools;
- Correcting the final parts of tasks; and
- Ensuring that texts are translated in line with the original text meaning and formatting.
In addition, a translator must have a command of at least two languages, along with the translator’s mother tongue.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
- To translate all types of documents;
- To read the terminologies of the relevant material and research.
- To make the required amendments to translated texts.
- To ensure that the translated content reflects the original meaning and tone of the original text.
- To find and determine new tools and methods for improving the translation services.
- To audit the translated texts, based on rules of grammar and punctuations.
- To communicate with the internal team members and customers to ensure that a translation meets their needs.
- To edit a content focusing on maintaining the original format.
- To communicate with field experts to keep updated on any new translation tools and practices.
Sub-Roles and Responsibilities
- To have knowledge of written translation and translation theories and practices.
- To have knowledge of terminology management and specific style directives and glossaries.
- To treat with confidential information.
- To manage relationships and communications.
- To explain researches and studies.
- To solve problems, collect data and have analytic skills.
Job Requirements
Functional Requirements
- To have a full command of two languages at least, in addition to the mother tongue.
- To have the skills of correcting misprints.
- To be accurate and able to detect misspelling, grammatical errors and mispunctuations.
- To be good at using content edit tools.
- To have the ability to use different CAT tools.
- To have the skills of prioritization and time management.
Conditions
- To hold a university degree in translation or the alike.
- To receive translations courses is preferable.
- To have a work experience of not less than two years in translation.
