Job Description

  • Leading and managing the English department to ensure academic excellence and student success.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating the English language and literature curriculum.
  • Providing instructional leadership and support to English teachers.
  • Monitoring student progress and implementing interventions as needed.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to integrate literacy across the curriculum.
  • Conducting professional development activities for English teachers.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents and stakeholders.
  • Participating in school leadership meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contributing to the overall strategic planning and vision of the school.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in English Literature, English Language, Education, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in English Literature, Education, or a relevant preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in English language and literature at the secondary level.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a leadership or management role within an educational institution.
  • Experience in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment in alignment with British standards.
  • Familiarity with international education standards and practices.

Certification:

  • Teaching certification/license from a recognized authority.
  • Leadership qualification or certification preferred (e.g., PGCE, CELTA, or equivalent).

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teachers to achieve academic excellence.
  • Proficiency in instructional strategies and methodologies for teaching English language and literature.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and digital learning tools.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of the British educational system and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of English language and literature curriculum standards and best practices.
  • Familiarity with assessment methodologies and data-driven decision-making in English education.
  • Understanding of current trends and developments in English language teaching and literature studies.
