Job Description
- Manage all aspects of the import cycle, from supplier selection and negotiation to customs clearance and delivery.
- Develop and implement import strategies that optimize cost, minimize lead times, and comply with all relevant regulations.
- Conduct market research to identify new and alternative suppliers, negotiate competitive pricing and terms, and manage supplier relationships.
- Analyze and interpret import regulations, tariffs, and quotas, ensuring all import documentation is accurate and complete.
- Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other international partners to ensure smooth and efficient logistics.
- Monitor import costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimization.
- Manage import budgets and financial forecasts.
- Prepare and present reports on import activities and performance.
- Stay up to date on changes in import regulations and industry trends.
- Provide training and guidance to junior team members.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in import operations, ideally in the cement or steel industry.
- Strong understanding of international trade customs and regulations.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in importing software and trade finance tools (e.g., Incoterms, Harmonized System codes).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language proficiency is a plus.
