Job Description

NOVA Cairo @ TKH provides innovative undergraduate higher education in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Maths Applied to Risk Management, Management and Information Management. Due to the continued growth of our teaching activity, NOVA Cairo @ TKH wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Physics to contribute to lecturing, delivery of tutorials, organising seminars and workshops, supervising student projects, and participating in scientific missions, among others, in Physics.

Supervision received: Responsible to the Branch Director/Programme Directors or nominee.

Supervision given: supervises the work of students as may be allocated from time to time, Assistant Lecturers, Instructors, as appropriate.

Job Requirements

  1. Education/Qualifications
    1. The candidate should be a PhD holder in Physics, Applied Physics, Physics Engineering or a closely related subject.
    2. The candidate should have excellent English skills, both written and oral.
    3. The candidate should have the following skills and competencies:
      1. A deep knowledge of the subject matter, including the physics concepts and principles, as well as their practical applications.
      2. Ability to explain and communicate effectively complex physical concepts and principles in a clear and concise manner.
      3. Ability to be patient and supportive as students work through complex problems.
      4. Ability to come up with creative ways to engage students and make the subject matter more exciting and accessible.
      5. Ability to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
      6. Ability to provide students with real-world examples and insights into the field and help students to develop research skills that are applicable to their future careers.
      7. Ability to pay close attention to detail to detect and correct errors.
      8. Ability to be well-organised and able to plan and manage their lessons and classroom activities effectively.
      9. Ability to adapt to their individual students' learning styles and needs to provide effective instruction and support.
      10. Ability to be comfortable using technology and digital tools to support instruction and engage students.
      11. Ability to effectively assess and evaluate their students' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning and growth.
    4. Teaching experience
      1. Recent teaching experience at higher education level with evidence.
      2. Evidence of excellent/innovative pedagogic practice.
      3. The candidate should have demonstrated academic leadership at course level.
  2. Research/Scholarly Activity
    1. A growing research profile in a relevant subject.
    2. Active researcher supported by evidence of publications or other appropriate output.
    3. Evidence of contribution to the research group(s) or network or community of practice
  3. Job-related skills and capabilities
    1. Ability to work independently, take the initiative, and innovate.
    2. Ability to identify and secure opportunities for the development of the School/University.
    3. Commitment to delivering high-quality services to students and partners.
    4. Good organisational and management skills.
    5. Ability to demonstrate adherence to regulations regarding ethics, governance, social responsibility, and appropriate practice.

  4. Interpersonal skills
    1. Effective oral and written communication skills in both individual and group situations.
    2. Ability to lead and work as a member of a team or group.
    3. Ability to relate to students with diverse backgrounds, ages, and experience.
    4. Ability to connect to a range of external stakeholders and partners of the university from the private/public/voluntary sectors.
  5. Other requirements
    1. Willingness to undertake academic activities in the evening when necessary and participate in occasional weekend activities such as recruitment days.
    2. A willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally as required to undertake academic and related activities.
