Job Description

The Inpatient Nursing Manager is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and operations within the inpatient unit. This role involves ensuring high standards of patient care, managing staff performance, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and evaluate nursing staff performance; conduct regular performance reviews and provide mentorship.
  • Patient Care: Ensure that all nursing practices comply with regulatory standards and promote the highest quality of patient care.
  • Policy Implementation: Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the unit’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Quality Improvement: Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives based on data analysis and feedback.
  • Emergency Response: Oversee emergency response protocols and ensure staff are trained and prepared for various situations.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role in an inpatient setting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a hospital setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
  • May require shifts outside of standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
