Job Description

  • Ensures that the mechanical equipment in the area of responsibility, operates within the specified parameters and technical characteristics, so as to ensure high quality of end product and optimisation of production cost
  • Develops analytical maintenance schedule of all mechanical infrastructure, and upon approval follows its accurate execution, in order to ensure that the plant meets agreed monthly and annual production targets
  • Follows all mechanical maintenance procedures, evaluating their effectiveness and proposing improvements that will enable the mechanical maintenance to function in an optimum and effective way
  • Identifies the spare parts needs, ensuring optimal level of spare parts holdings and reviewing that all spare parts received are according to requirements, thus maintaining high operational efficiency of the plant and contributing to the continuous flow of production 
  • Liaises with all maintenance planning professionals for the preparation of preventive and predictive maintenance plans, including major shutdowns and implementation of such maintenance activities, to minimize unplanned stoppages and improve plant reliability
  • Conducts regular meetings with the departments of production, so as to identify issues of consideration and proceeds to all necessary steps, in order to restore operational efficiency 
  • Reviews and evaluates all activities of the mechanical maintenance function, including activities from contractors, providing analytical reporting of actions, results, and cost, as well as assessing the efficiency of all members following the performance appraisal system
  • Participates in the development and implementation of new investments within the plant, ensuring that all mechanical requirements are fully satisfied 
  • Motivates, develops, and manages his team in a way that ensures a high level of initiative, cooperation, and personal development opportunities  
  • Ensures that safe work rules and practices are understood, implemented, and consistently followed by the Maintenance department employees and subcontractors  
  • Follows the appropriate health, safety, and environmental practices in the area of responsibility, identifying and reporting issues of consideration to meet company, corporate, and governmental standards

Participates in or leads projects that may go beyond his/her formal accountabilities, to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs

Job Requirements

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably at a postgraduate level
  • Approximately 7 years of relevant work experience within a large industrial organisation of the cement sector
  • Very good knowledge of cement products and cement production processes 
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance management methods of predictive inspection tools and of CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System)
  • Knowledge of general mechanical and industrial automation
  • Knowledge of safety laws and regulations
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Flexible and innovative personality
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Team spirit and ability to motivate and engage people in projects
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
  • PC literacy
