Job Description
- JOB PURPOSE
- Responsible for protecting Company’s interests by leading the management of litigation, investigations and disputes involving the Company by working on a wide range of litigation matters and to provide a strategic legal advice to the organization by working with other key internal and external stakeholders, to drive internal governance, compliance and risk management activities for the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide leadership and supervisory responsibility for a team of legal professionals maintaining best practices in litigation management.
- Manage a complex, diverse portfolio of litigation and investigation matters
- Manage outside counsel, including leading fee negotiations and developing and managing budget.
- Manage budget preparation, budget management, setting team goals, and planning for future support needs.
Functional Accountabilities
- Consult with and advise the General Manager and Chairman, maintaining oversight responsibility in law-related areas of significant company-wide impact, as well as direct involvement in litigation matters.
- Lead special projects or initiatives as assigned by the GM or Chairman.
- Ensure effective litigation management of cases - identification, appointment and management of external litigation partners, timely filing of cases and monitoring their progress, and provide timely updates to the GM and Chairman.
- Liaise with the court experts, briefing on litigation cases, drafting memos and letters and attending site visits.
- Negotiating Settlements where the disputed party is involved on a litigation case when required.
- Represent the company in dispute matter and legal proceedings in front of relevant bodies such as Police Offices, Dubai Land Department, RERA etc.
- Work collaboratively with a broad range of people to develop and maintain strong working relationships between legal, finance and CRM teams and facilitate a team based approach.
- Prepare reports and carry out other tasks as instructed.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- LLB OR LLM in Law
- 15+ years of relevant legal experience, including extensive litigation management
- Extensive knowledge of UAE property laws
- Experience in representing real estate developers in litigation matters
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a wide variety of stakeholders
- A proactive and highly-organized approach to managing multiple and competing priorities within a fast-paced working environment, maintaining attention to detail within strict deadlines.
- A confident yet diplomatic approach exhibiting strong professionalism at all times with colleagues and externally.
