Job Description

The jobholder is responsible for updating the Express Logistics Center (ELC) stock materials through different inventory systems, in order to ensure stock accuracy in the ELC and to provide service to the ELC customers, respecting delivery deadlines and internal procedures, and in compliance with all customs regulations.

  • To ensure that all data relevant to an inbound and/or outbound order are received in a manner that will enable them to be processed and recorded in the appropriate system fields.
  • To update customer inventory systems as per work instructions and maintained current.
  • To escalate to line supervisor/manager any service failures caused by subcontractors or other DHL entities.
  • Ensures that any discrepancies (quality/quantity) are highlighted correctly and in a timely manner reported to the customer and/or internal customer services and ELC management team.
  • Where necessary performs pre-alert and pro-active track and trace.
  • Uphold ISO 9002 & 14001 procedures within ELC as per policy to ensure compliance.
  • The job holder works in the Express Logistics Centre. The SPC / ELC gives logistics support to DHL customers, acting as a bonded warehouse: goods are stored in transit, and are dispatched on-time upon customer’s request. The Job Holder is also responsible for the integrity of all stock transactions for internal and external customers.
  • The SPC / ELC receives, registers, checks and validates incoming orders before communicating them to DHL partners in the region or via the DHL Network. After this a complete pro-active follow-up till final delivery is required. Pro-active communication to the customer is key to business practice.
  • The performance of customer accounts are constantly measured through documented Key Performance Indicators that are constantly compared with live data from the remote field. Recording this data in a timely manner is essential to enable the SPC / ELC to fulfill its role. The jobholder fully controls the complete operation.
  • To provide a timely and qualitative service whilst reducing the cost and developing a “Winner Culture” within the team. The jobholder can expect to face the usual operations and logistics issues and problems: managing pronounced peaks and troughs in workload and the resolution of occasional service failures.
  • The jobholder is directly responsible for his order handling and the perfect follow up of these orders. He/She will be responsible to escalate the cases when necessary.
  • Short term: planning is often adapted in function of urgent requests from customers
  • Long term: meet deadlines or handling in reports and customs formalities.

Job Requirements

  • Fluent English, written and oral.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • At least 2 years of operational experience in the Logistics field.
  • Good knowledge of MS office
  • Team leader
  • Customs regulations knowledge
  • Supply chain management & Logistics experience
  • Mature, professional and conscientious as well as paying attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform assigned responsibilities independently.
  • Must be proactive and have the ability to resolve problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and good time management
  • The ability to learn new systems, work instructions, customers
  • Flexible attitude to working hours
