Job Description
- Facilitate market linkages among small farmers in Upper Egypt and the Delta, food processors, exporters, cooperatives, associations, and other large buyers & input suppliers.
- Develop the skills of service providers in critical agriculture value chain segments—such as cold-chain, food processing, or other agro-processing—to support small farmers and integrate them into commercial partnerships.
- With the Markets and Production and Post-Harvest teams, identify service provider challenges and seek buyer commitment to develop incentives to solve them.
- Support development of hubs to meet the needs of producer organizations and small farmers.
- With the ERAS Agronomist, support design of a Delta Regional Center of Excellence
- Guide training and TA for service providers organized through the three regional offices.
- Assist the ERAS Cold Chain Coordinator to link producer organizations to cold chain service providers.
- Coordinate with relevant implementing partners—such as the USAID Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SEED) activity, which provides technical support to business service providers—to leverage, rather than duplicate interventions.
- Participate in weekly teleconference calls with satellite offices to review ongoing activities and discuss planned activities.
- Participate in monthly MEL meetings among technical staff in the Dokki office.
Job Requirements
- Degree in agricultural development, business, marketing, or another relevant equivalent field (master is preferred).
- Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in provision of business development services is required.
- Demonstrated experience in public-private engagement and in identifying opportunities in local and export markets.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage productively with a wide range of organizations, beneficiaries, and related parties (e.g., producers, government, private sector, NGOs, research, and training institutions).
- Good verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English are required.
