Job Description
Student Welfare and Counseling:
- Provides individual and or group counseling to pupils on a range of educational, personal or any other issues.
- Act as an advisor and or consultant to students on issues related to the emotional aspects of learning and to students’ welfare.
- Provide assistance to ‘at risk students’ to help them with their study skills or other related areas, including the formation of Intervention Strategies.
Student Advocacy
- Provide free, independent and confidential advice and support to pupils, on all matters concerning academic and social matters
- Represent or advocate for pupils in meetings or discussions with staff and committees, and guide pupils through the processes including appeals, complaints or misconduct findings.
- Assist pupils with equity and welfare issues that may be affecting their ability to study, and liaise with and refer pupils to appropriate departments/staff, and/or refer pupils to appropriate community organisations as required.
Student Welfare
- Assist in all areas of Student welfare, including Study Skills programs.
- Work on programs that will assist their personal and academic development.
Job Requirements
- Qualified counselor, registered as a psychologist
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a counselor
- Diploma/Masters in psychology
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written Mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and advise pupils in an educational environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively and consultatively in teamwork environment
- Customer focus with a passion to assist pupils
