Role Summary:
The Staff Software Architect will promote the enterprise architecture process, outcomes and results. The incumbent will participate in the design of systems, use development software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components and participate in architecture implementation and modification activities while assuring proper closure of tasks.
Essential Responsibilities
- In the context of project execution within the SW technical delivery organization:
- End-to-end responsibility for the Software Delivery component of projects to meet schedule, cost and quality commitments
- Strong collaboration with the Delivery Manager and coordination with the Solution Engineering, Application Engineering and Integration Engineering teams (including Factories)
- Project Execution control: WBS, activity tracking to update the Delivery Manager (DM) on progress
- Share responsibility with DM on assigned activities, through close coordination, for scope management (change requests assessment), risk management and problem management
- Strong involvement on “Engineering Gate Reviews”: Solution, FAT Readiness and SAT Readiness.
- Drive excellence in execution of assigned projects through continuous improvement and change management to implement competitive improvement initiatives (costs base reduction, lead time reduction, productivity improvement and quality improvement)
- In collaboration with Tendering
- Collaboration and coordination with tendering during bidding phase whenever required
- Requirement analysis at tendering stage
- Propose and build state of the art solutions architecture taking into account technologies, return of experience, quality improvement, productivity improvement and cost solution improvement
Others
- Support different activities related to Software projects and maintenance contracts (preventive or curative actions) such as but not limited to: solving SW issues, producing technical report, interfacing direct to R&D to raise issues and validate R&D deliveries
- Closely interaction with other functions such as Solution Integration, Test Management and tendering to bring architecture expertise the team
Job Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related computer field and/or equivalent experience.
- Strong background in software architecture and integration aspects related to computer systems
- At least five years of experience in software delivery organization with solid operations background and a track record in project execution
- Industry knowledge in the field of operation and multi-site projects (Energy or other heavy industries)
- Organizations Process and methodology oriented
- Ability to work with people remotely, collaborative and able to work across the organization to accomplish common goals
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and be self-directed in workload prioritization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortable presenting technical design, technical solutions and enterprise architecture solutions to clients/customers (English proficiency required).
- Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
- High commitment level
Desired Characteristics:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related computer field and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of GE Grid Software Solutions tools and processes
