Job Description
- Ensures the application of accounting best practices within the accounting department
- Maintains company chart of accounts closing old and opening new accounts when necessary
- Maintains vendor master files ensuring that all vendor data is correct & updated.
- Maintains supplier master files ensuring that all supplier data is correct & updated.
- Ensures that assets are properly accounted for and expenses.
- Preparation of capitalization & depreciation entries.
- Preparation of fixed assets accounts reconciliations
- Preparation of inventory entries
- Responsible for Inventory costing
- Preparation of inventory account reconciliations
- Posting all Balance sheet entries prepared by A/P, A/R and treasury.
- Review and approval all balance sheet reconciliations prepared by A/P, A/R & treasury and payroll
- Reviews and approves petty cash reconciliations.
- Review sales contracts and approve invoices
- Ensure that checks issued by clients are correct and deposited with the bank
- Close monitoring of A/R through the review of the monthly aging A/R report and the calculation of a monthly days of sales (DSO) figure.
- Review and monitoring aging A/P report
- Review monthly customer statement, reconciling the statements with customers periodically.
- Review monthly vendor statements, reconciling the statements with vendors periodically.
- Approval of all expense reports
- Expensing unreconciled amounts the approval of the Finance manager
- Ensure that balance sheet accounts accurately reflect the recording of all business transactions.
- Ensures the timely posting of entries
- Ensures the timely preparation of reconciliations.
- Ensures the timely availability of data required for processing of financial reports
- Ensures the timely availability of data required for processing of budget reports
- Initial approval of checks issued for payments
- Prepares accrued expense
- Prepares A/R doubtful accounts.
- Reports any unordinary accounting treatment to finance manager for advice on how to handle the issue from an accounting point of view.
- Resolves issues that arise with accounting staff
- Prepares accounting staff appraisals
- Proposes bonuses and/or deductions from accounting staff
- Responsible for the year end closing activities
- Coordinates with tax audits when required.
- Enforces the application of Egycot’s accounting & financial procedures.
Job Requirements
- Holds a Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Division.
- Experience minimum 10 years in the field of accounting
- Experience of 5 to 7 years in the preparation of financial and accounting reports in business at a trading company prefer to import and export.
- Has experience in cost control systems and the preparation of reports stores.
- Experience in the use of computer systems (ERP).
- Experience in using All Microsof Office programs.
- Charismatic managerial and leadership able to manage a team of between 4 to 6 people.
- Proficiency in the English language speaking and writing.
