Internship Description

Org. Setting:

The UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department and the availability of the intern, up to a period of 6 months.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the overall supervision of the UNODC Regional Representative for the Middle East and North Africa, and direct supervision of the Terrorism Prevention Regional Advisor, and the National Project Officer, based in Cairo.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to the elaboration of background documents, presentations, briefing notes, summaries, talking points and speeches;
  • Assist in the administrative preparation of national and regional technical assistance workshops, meetings, high-level events and conferences.
  • Conduct basic research on criminal justice aspects of terrorism prevention and on specific counter-terrorism related thematic areas.
  • Attend and take notes at meetings, as required.
  • Perform other tasks, as necessary.

Posting Period: 16 October 2018 - 29 October 2018

Duration: 3 - 6 months

Internship Requirements

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
